A lumberjack Katsu, lives in the mountains. When a film crew suddenly arrives to shoot a zombie movie, he finds himself roped into assisting them and frustrated by the pushy crew, including the young spineless Koichi. As it turns out, he's the twenty-five-year-old rookie director, struggling to handle the pressures and teetering on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Four tragicomic short films, each by a different director, explore the changing lives of the Taiwanese people from the 1950s to the 1980s. The second segment, about a girl's adolescence, is Edward Yang's debut film while the third and fourth segments are by KoYi-Cheng and Chang Yi, respectively.
